Even those who have no love can learn to live and laugh

I like to write stuff that seems almost contradictory. This poem, Even those who have no love, appears to see crack addiction as a bad thing, but then goes on to suggest that even someone addicted to crack is worthy of light and love.

This is one of my favorite poems that I’ve written because it reminds me that no one is unworthy of respect and I hope it shows that. May God shine His light on all of us, even those suffering with Addiction….

even those who have no love

There are those who have no love…

There ain’t no joy

In a crack-pipe laugh

Can’t see beauty

In the reaper’s smile

There ain’t no joy

When life is lived without some love.

In the reaper’s smile

Death’s quiet beauty

Rises with its insidious laugh

But, in the reaper’s smile

maybe there’s a hint of love

rising with its unpretentious laugh.

Behind that gate that leads to beauty

lies every other source of joy.

Rising with its unpretentious laugh

That sun warms even those who have no love.

and every other source of joy

will bleed through crack-pipe smiles

and reveal the thrill of life’s beauty

and every other source of joy

is available when right here and now smiles

and reveals the thrill of life’s beauty

then even those who have no love

can live and learn to laugh.
