Like a sunflower in a field — a poem of light in a all too dark world

IMG_1303

Days go by – life goes on

And things, they just don’t change

I walk around in dreams

Where innocence ain’t deranged

There’s no one wearing blue suede shoes

All they want is drugs & booze.

I see a world where one and one ain’t two

And wonder how much more we have to lose

Like a sunflower in a field

Swaying free in a breeze

I wanna laugh, I wanna live

Soaking sun, glowing bright

Like a sunflower in a field

Can’t keep taking, gotta give

Souls can’t be exchanged

Gotta work — gotta pray

There ain’t nothing prearranged

There’s no one singing sweet love songs

All they chant is deicide

But I see a world where hope might grow

And light they sky with golden rays

Like a sunflower in a field

Swaying free in a breeze

I wanna laugh, I wanna live

Soaking sun, glowing bright

Like a sunflower in a field
