I’ve been reviewing the “55 best links” that I shared on Sunday.  There’s so much good material in them that I have been touched and inspired and re-motivated to kick Addiction’s ass.

Today, I’m going to share a really touching story about a woman who lost her son to a heroin overdose a couple of years ago.  She describes herself as a “Pollyanna;” that is, someone who lives her life through a positive and optimistic lens.  However, she received a call in 2012 from her son’s boss; her son was dead from a heroin overdose.

She, like so many others, lost a bit of her positive approach to life after learning of her son’s death.  She writes in the post about how Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s death brought back memories of her son’s passing.

She has since become an advocate for Nalexone programs and needle exchange programs.  She’s become a more tempered “Pollyanna,” meaning she still tries to cloak herself in optimism, but she does so without naiveté.  I do hope you read the story and share it with others.  She’s a warrior against the forces of addiction and if we can learn something from her experience, her son will not have died in vain.
