This Friday, September 19 at 6:00 PM, I’ll join my fellow school board candidates at the Santa Fe Country Club (4360 Country Club Rd, Santa Fe, NM) to participate in the Santa Fe School Board Candidate Forum.
To me, this forum is super important because it’s the first time that ALL school board candidates will discuss their perspectives. Furthermore, it’s a huge opportunity to engage directly with the people I hope to represent — parents, teachers, students, and community members who care deeply about our schools and about Santa Fe. This forum will allow everyone who attends to hear the candidates and derive informed opinions about each candidate. The more informed our community, the better choice we’ll make.

What makes this forum especially meaningful is its structure and content. We’ll be responding to questions prepared by the League of Women Voters for their Election Guide. These questions are rooted in concern for our schools within today’s political climate. I think coming together around those questions can only improve the entire campaign process. The Country Club Board President will moderate the discussion, ensuring a fair and balanced conversation for everyone.

I’ve been reflecting on why I chose to run for School Board in the first place. It’s because I believe our children deserve safe, supportive schools where they can develop into thoughtful and engaged people. I believe in transparency, accountability, and community engagement. Forums like this one are where all of us can practice those values.

Sitting alongside the other candidates, I won’t just be responding to questions; I’ll get to listen to others’ perspectives. Hopefully, I’ll learn something (I’m sure I will). Everyone running, no doubt, believes in their platform. I am thrilled to hear those platforms.

The Santa Fe Country Club’s willingness to host this event also says a lot about our community’s spirit. It’s a reminder that spaces that often become pigeonholed as a certain thing can also be spaces for civic dialogue and youth-centered conversations. I appreciate their desire to host this important forum and cannot thank the Country Club enough for supporting our schools!I hope the whole town shows up Friday evening. Elections at the local level only work when people show up and your presence truly matters.
