drug-induced zombies — a poem

drug-induced zombies breathe, angry that they do

air is nothing more than poison

to those who resent

the day they first tasted oxygen

they walk cavalier and rocky roads

unaware of their cut and bleeding feet

they just want what they want and they want it now

drug-induced zombies

who don’t want to live;

don’t even know how

i pray for them

but their rock-hard hearts

just want a fix

and drug-induced zombies

tend to die in ignorant bliss
