As an author, it’s not enough for me to write books and hope they find their readers. I have to push them. No publisher, agent, or publicist will ever love my work more than me and none of them can ever appreciate or understand the point of my work. I wrote 49 Tips and Insights for Understanding Addiction because I often heard myself saying the same things in the classes I teach or to people whom I’m counseling. I believe in this book and am proud to have brought it into the world. Really, I believe that my addiction treatment book can save lives.
I believe that if people read it and do the work offered within its pages they can find answers to some questions they have. What’s frustrating, though, is that this book exists, is available, yet it hasn’t found as a widespread of an audience as it should. Maybe I haven’t promoted it enough, Maybe I’m too small of an author to get it where it needs to go. But I am certain it’s not a weakness of this book itself.
I really do think that if people read this book, they can at least begin a path towards conscious sobriety. They can still do their 12-steps or attend church or even just quit cold turkey. If they read this book, even if that’s all they do, they might find peace within their souls. Really, that’s what families of addicts need more than anything else: Moments of peace in which they can hear God’s voice. The 49 tips I offer can provide that peace by allowing people to see addiction as a limiting factor that can be transformed. Addiction does not have to be a terminal situation. Really, addiction can be overcome and my book can pave the path.
